Our Story
Founded in 1997, JKEDI was conceived with the vision of transforming the economic landscape of Jammu & Kashmir by promoting entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Recognizing the challenges of limited government employment opportunities and an underdeveloped private sector, JKEDI embarked on a mission to nurture entrepreneurial talent and facilitate self-employment .
Over the years, JKEDI has expanded its reach and services, implementing various programs such as the Seed Capital Fund Scheme, Youth Startup Loan Scheme, and the Himayat Self-Employment Scheme, among others. These initiatives have empowered thousands of individuals to establish their ventures, contributing to the region's socio-economic development.
In alignment with the Start-up Policy-2018, JKEDI has been designated as the nodal agency to foster a robust startup ecosystem in the region. The policy envisions the creation of 500 new startups over ten years, alongside the establishment of incubators, innovation labs, and angel networks.
As we look to the future, JKEDI remains committed to its core values while embracing new technologies and methodologies to better serve aspiring entrepreneurs and contribute to the region's prosperity.
